Types of firearms at SEM Jacht & Schietsport

Firearms are divided into a number of types, namely pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, alarm pistols and deactivated firearms. Each category of firearms is further subdivided into different types.

Pistols

Pistols include small caliber pistols and large caliber pistols. For example, caliber .22 pistols are considered small caliber pistols and larger calibers are considered large caliber pistols. We have a wide range of new and used pistols in stock from brands such as CZ, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer and Glock.

Revolvers

At SEM Jacht & Schietsport we have a large number of small and large caliber revolvers in stock that can be easily reserved online. These firearms carry calibers such as .357 Magnum, .38 Special or .44 Rem. We have a large range of new and used revolvers in stock from brands such as Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Taurus and Colt.

Rifles

Also with rifles a distinction is made between small caliber guns and large caliber guns. With these firearms one can think of well-known brands such as CZ, Beretta, Steyr and Bergara. Rifles are often produced in .22 LR and are often used for hunting rabbits or pigeons. A large caliber rifle can also be used to hunt larger game with calibers such as .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor. Discover which rifle fits your needs.

Shotguns

These firearms can be used for hunting or sports. These shotguns are often produced in cal. 12 and are therefore the most common. A shotgun is distinguished in two different models that carry the barrels above each other or next to each other. SEM Jacht & Schietsport specializes in shotguns from Beretta, Browning, Franchi and CZ, we have a wide range of shotguns in stock.

Firearms for shooting sports

In general, in The Netherlands, as a sports shooter you must be a member of an association that is affiliated with the KNSA Royal Dutch Sports Shooters Association. If you are affiliated with a shooting association, you can shoot in various disciplines. These disciplines each have their own rules and regulations. For example, if you want to shoot with a 9mm Glock 17, this is allowed in the "Military Pistol" discipline, but not in the "Free Pistol" discipline, because a maximum caliber of .22/5.6mm is allowed in the free pistol discipline.

Firearms that are allowed in shooting sports include large and small caliber pistols, revolvers and rifles. For shooting sports where a clay pigeon is shotguns are of course allowed. You will hear a lot about brands such as CZ, Tanfolglio, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Browning when it comes to weapons for shooting sports. Firearms specifically and only made for sports are also available, such as Walther, Feinwerkbau and Anschutz.

Firearms for hunting and pest control

For hunting and pest control, other weapons are often needed than the firearms used in shooting sports. For hunting rabbit, hare, duck, pheasant and wood pigeon, a shotgun is usually used. The names Beretta, Browning and Franchi are often mentioned brands when it comes to shotguns.

There are also designated firearms for hunting roe deer, wild pig, deer or mouflon, these are largebore rifles suitable for shooting bullets with a certain energy. Calibers such as .223 Rem and .243 Win. are often used for roe deer, but rifles in caliber .308 Winchester are also very usable for this. The .308 Win and the .30-06 Springfield are also frequently used calibers for big game.
